A UNIVERSITY IN THE LANDS NEIGHBOUR TO SKY;
ARTVIN CORUH UNIVERSITY
Artvin is a fascinating city which is located on the Eastern part of Black Sea Region. Most of its lands are covered with consecutively ranged mountains which are impassable and steep and sometimes up to 3900 meters. Green plateaus accompany these glorious mountains.
In this region which does not have any flat land except for the coastal region, Artvin Coruh University was founded with the legislation dated 17th May, 2007 and numbered as 5662 and this regulation came into force on 29th May, 2007 when it was published in the Official Journey of the Republic of Turkey. The paragraph about Artvin Coruh University in the 7th item of the regulation number 5662 is like this:

ANNEX 80- A university named as "Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi" is founded in Artvin. This university consists of;
a) Faculty of Science and Letters which is founded under the President's Office, Faculty of Education which was under the administration of Karadeniz Technical university and then connected to the President's Office and Faculty of Forestry which was under the administration of Kafkas university and then connected to the President's Office,
b) Health College which was under the administration of Kafkas University and then connected to the President's Office,
c) Vocational school which was under the administration of Kafkas University and then connected to President's Office, Arhavi and Hopa Vocational School which were firstly under the administration of Karadeniz Technical University and then connected to the President's Office
d) Graduate School of Social Sciences and Graduate School of Natural sciences which are connected to the President's Office.
The President of Karadeniz Technical University, Prof. Dr. İbrahim OZEN was appointed (by proxy) as the President to Artvin Coruh University on 13th August, 2007. Prof. Dr. Mehmet DUMAN was appointed as the Promoting President of the Artvin Coruh University on 10th September, 2008 and took up his duty on 16th September, 2008.
