At the Symposium on Green Chemistry Applications in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Academics from 11 Different Countries will Gather at Artvin Çoruh University

14 October 2024, Monday 355

From October 16-18, 2024, Artvin Çoruh University will host the “International Symposium on Green Chemistry Applications in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Hypericum and Ruscus Species (GreenChemMap 2024)." A total of 68 academics, including 38 international participants from 11 different countries, will attend the symposium. The event is a significant outcome of the GreenChem project, supported under the Erasmus+ Higher Education Cooperation Partnerships (KA220-HED) initiative, specifically the project numbered 2022-1-TR01-KA220-HED-000089361. This project focuses on green chemistry and the sustainable use of plant-based resources. The symposium's international partners include the University of Turin (Italy), the University of Galati (Romania), the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (Czech Republic), the Institute for Single Crystals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the Agricultural University of Georgia.

At the symposium, which is expected to generate significant discussions contributing to the field of green chemistry, particular attention will be given to Hypericum and Ruscus species. The focus will be on the green chemistry applications related to their pharmacological and biological activities. It is anticipated that the symposium will provide an important platform to strengthen international collaborations regarding the sustainable use of medicinal and aromatic plants. Numerous presentations on the use of green chemistry in medicinal and aromatic plants will be given, and innovative approaches aimed at enhancing the sustainability of plant chemistry will be discussed. Topics such as the sustainable collection of these species from nature, their conservation, and the support of biodiversity will also be addressed. Participants will have the opportunity to share their scientific and technical expertise through interdisciplinary interactions, laying the foundation for new research collaborations. Moreover, the symposium is seen as a valuable learning and networking opportunity for young researchers.
