On the second day of his official visit to Georgia, Rector of Artvin Çoruh University Prof. Dr. İbrahim Aydın met with Prof. Dr. Tite Aroshidze, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, and the university administration. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current academic relations between the two universities and exchanged views on new joint projects and potential research areas.
Rector Aydın drew attention to the recently approved “Interreg VI-B NEXT – GreenS4BlackSea” project. Coordinated by Artvin Çoruh University, the project titled “Protection of Virgin Forests as a Green Solution for the Black Sea (GreenS4BlackSea)” has been awarded a grant of €452,970 and will run for 18 months. Batum Shota Rustaveli State University takes part in the project as a key partner. Rector Aydın emphasized that this project stands as a strong example of the successful cooperation between the two institutions and will pave the way for broader collaborations in the future.
Accompanied by Dr. Hakan Gültekin, Director of the Center for International Relations, and Dr. Mehmet Ali Keskin, Rector Aydın and the university delegation later visited Batumi Navigation Teaching University. This visit marked the first official institutional meeting between the two universities. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to establish bilateral cooperation. The meeting also included discussions on possible multidisciplinary collaborations, particularly in the fields of Business Administration, Port and Maritime Management, and Logistics, which are among the academic departments of Artvin Çoruh University.
