The Turkish Studies Club, one of the student clubs at Artvin Çoruh University, organized an important event addressing the various dimensions of violence, its psychological effects, and legal protection mechanisms.
Organized under the coordination of Dr. Elif Kaya, Assistant Professor and Advisor to the Turkish Studies Society, with the aim of raising social awareness and educating students about their legal rights, the program took place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in the Green Hall of the Nihat Gökyiğit Congress and Culture Center.
The event, consisting of two separate sessions, began with a presentation titled “Violence, Types of Violence, and the Psychological Effects of Sexual Violence/Sexual Harassment and Assault” delivered by Merve Akdeniz Öksüz, a staff member of the Center for Psychological Counseling and Guidance Applications and Research. In this session, the concept of violence was examined through its subheadings, drawing attention to the destructive psychological effects it leaves on individuals.
In the second part of the program, Gönül Özbayrak, an instructor from the Court Office Services Program at Artvin Vocational School, addressed the topic “Sexual Assault and Mobbing: Legal Dimensions and Protection Mechanisms.” Özbayrak provided information on the legal rights individuals possess and the protection mechanisms they can utilize against instances of mobbing and sexual assault, particularly those encountered in social life and the workplace.
